As part of our continuing drive towards community engagement and advocacy for internationally trained lawyers in Canada, we are proud to announce the launch of the Internationally Trained Lawyers CBA Alberta Section (“ITL Section”). The ITL Section is the first of its kind in Canada, and will be co-chaired by two of our own internationally trained lawyers: GLC Director, Andrew Lim (andrew.lim@nortonrosefulbright.com), and senior family law lawyer, Traci Bannister (traci.bannister@masuchalbertlaw.com).
Enrollment fee is $90, and includes lunches for all meetings.
Meeting Place is at the CBA Office.
Sessions will be the 4th Friday of: Sept, Nov, Jan, Mar and May at 12:00pm.
You may sign up here: https://cbaapps.org/AB_SecEnrol_S/login.aspx
The ITL Section will hold 5 meetings throughout the year. The section aims to help connect legal practitioners from various backgrounds and to help facilitate integration into the Canadian legal market. The section will also provide insight into the qualification process, the requirements, the challenges and the opportunities of working in the Canadian legal marketplace and to assist in providing networking and mentorship opportunities. This will be a fantastic way to network with Alberta lawyers from within the CBA network, and to benefit from the CBA’s extensive resources.
You will need to be an existing CBA member to sign up. If you are currently not a CBA member but are still interested in joining the ITL Section, please contact the co-chairs via email (as per above) to inquire further.
